Study trip to Lausanne and Brussels

Studying for a bachelor in Sport Management gives a lot of interesting opportunities, like visting the IOC in Lausanne and the Chocolate Museum in Brussels (not so study relevant I guess...). Incredibly inspiring and great to meet so many inspowering people ;-) We had a very good day at the IOC Learning about the Olympic spirit, Youth Olympics, Cultural programme, Social media in the IOC  and  Agenda 2020. We visited the Olympic museum,  the AISTS master program and Olympic Library and Learning center.

In Brussels we visited the EU Parliament, the Norwegian EU delegation and (most exciting) Burson Marsteller - an international PR-firm working on Olympic-bidding processes.

Great week with great people in beautiful cities :-)

Bronze in Norwegian Championship Dryland

Bronze in this weekend's Norwegian championship dryland, in canicross! My body is still aching from the running, but worth it😄 Today we competed in the bikejoring, and pedaled us in to a good 8th place.

Drammen Grand Prix

It was action and a lot of fun at this year's Drammen Grand Prix, as always. Skurk did a great job, first getting us to the final and then putting us in the fight for the win in the final. Very close race with photo finish and only centimeters separating 1-3rd at the finish line. Very happy with our 3rd Place :D

Pluto competed in the "Miljøklasse", 9 years after his debut here at Drammen Travbane. Very satisfied super-veteran!

Summertime

Summer is here, and we've had some weeks off from work, living in Larvik and training. Frednes, my family's summer home in Viksfjord, Larvik, is perfect for summer training. Here we can run, rollerski, cycle, swim, padle kayak and sail more or less from the doorstep. This is where we do the ground work for next season:)

We haven't had too much sun and +degrees, but there is still some weeks left of the summer - crossing our fingers!

We (I) are now on instagram, follow "us" on @karolineconradi for more frequent updates.

Happy birthday Skurk!

Skurk celebrated his 3-years birthday with big brother Pluto and his good friends Ellinor and Marley.

Thanks to Silje Knox for taking good care of my boys while I was working in Trondheim for Oslo2016.

Beautiful Jotunheimen in May

One day, 10h, good friends, 3 x 2000m tops, and all in shining sunlight and blue sky!

We went from Sokse (2189m) to Veslebjørn (2150m) and finished with Storebjørn (2222m). Magnificent!

Randonee in Jotunheimen

I have finally been on my first 2000m. - Loftet:)

Spring skiing :-)

Happy easter everyone!

Randonee tour at Skeikampen

I am so fortunate to study a bachelor that opens up for so many opportunities, this time it was a guided randonee tour at Skeikampen.

I think the pictures speak for themself.

The Birken relay

I've had better days competing, that's for sure!

As earlier mentioned some friends and I challenged the IOC, NIF and LYOGOC to the Birken relay, and all of them accepted the challenge. Now the day was here to show them we really meant "Go behind".

1,5 week working and 1,5 week sick was not the ultimate preparation for a 12km classic leg included 8km uphill. I guess it could have been a little easier if I would had any grip at all. But no, not this time. When that is said, I look back at it with some kind of joy. Would I do it again?! Apparently I will next year - NIF wants a rematch.

But it is a fun way to challenge friends, and it is a great event combined with beautiful nature and good tracks. We were a little unfortunate with the weather this day, usually when it is +2 degrees and raining I don't run to find my classic skis - I skate! But it was all in all a fun experience that I will recommend to everyone. And hopefully we'll get sun and blue sky next year.

Even though my leg didn't go so well, the team did great. Not only did we get 5th place overall in the mixed class (with more than 100 teams), but most importantly - we beat both the IOC, NIF and all three LYOGOC teams! Wohoo!

And in the evening we had a great banquet with all the participants from the six teams, plus some more people from LYOGOC.

Thanks to my team for a great relay, and thanks to everyone for a great evening.

World Championship in Bernau, Germany

We are back in Norway after a disappointing championship for us.

I made the decision not to compete in the skijoring class on Friday, to be better prepared for the Saturday's combined where we had a better chance of a good race, and I'm 100% sure it was the right decision. But we were not so lucky with the drawing of start numbers, so I had to start in second line in the combined masstart.

On Saturday things didn't go as planned already from the morning off, preparations took more time than they should and I couldn't keep my schedule. The start went okay, especially considering I stood a little further back than I should, we had no problems and got off okay. In the first steep uphill we were behind some competitors who got a complete stop, and there was no way for us to pass them and go as we wanted to. The leading group got a lot of meters on us in this hill, but after getting going again we started catching up. Unfortunately I fell hard in a downhill, the line unhooked and Skurk ran off after the others. I had to skate the last km to pit-stop without him, and lost 4 places and contact with the leading group. At the pit-stop area some functionares held Skurk and sent me off in to my pit. I continued the race knowing we had no chance for a good placing, and finished at a disppointing 10th place.

Apart from the race, we had a great trip, my dad, Pluto, Skurk and I. Norway did great, taking several medals. And I think it is extra fun with my friend Cajsa Grape who took two bronze medals :) and Solveig Aaseby who took the gold in the combined.

Not to forget, always fun to meet up ith all the great mushers from around the world!

Congratulations to all the medal winners! And thanks to everyone for a great time in the beautiful Schwarzwald area:)

Challenging the IOC, NIF and LYOGOC to Birken relay

As mentioned before, some classmates and I organize the YOG-jogg (a training alternative for people in the Lillehammer-region). And now we have challenged the IOC, NIF (the Norwegian Sports federation) and LYOGOC (the Lillehammer Youth Olympic Games Organizing Committee) to the Birkebeiner relay. All accepted the challenge, and after the WCh I'll have to start training classic skiing!

We warned LYOGOC they will have to change their slogan "Go beyond, create tomorrow" to "Go behind, forget tomorrow". The 20th of March we'll have the answer!

Silver and bronze in Norwegian championship!

This weekend it was the Norwegian championship in 15km combined and 10km pulka, at Savalen near Tynset.

With the storm "Ole" visiting on the 15km combined on Saturday, it was a heavy competition with a lot of snow and wind. All in all a lot of weather! We started of good, and held the lead for most of the first 7,5km with pulka. We were first out of the pit-stop, but was quickly passed by Eira and Solveig Aaseby. We had no chance keeping their speed in the skijoring. After going with Julie Thue Holthe in the first km off the skijoring, we went in some long uphills and kept the 3rd place with good margins for the rest of the race. Very happy to take a medal on a distance were I didn't think we would be able to compete for podium.Skurk did a great job this day, showing off his strong head by taking the lead for so long without wondering about the others. My dear little "bucket" :)

I have never been as tired as I was at the finishline this day, couldn't open my eyes for a while and for sure not stand on my feet for some minutes! Feels good knowing we did what we could,  and that we fought for our medal.

Sunday was a heavy day with better tracks and better weather. But after the hard race the day before and little sleep during the night, my body was tired and Skurk seemed a little bit off. Very satisfied that we still managed a silver medal, then taking a medal on every NM-distance this season :)

Skijoring in Trysil

Saturday was the first qualification race for the World Championship this winter, 15km in the tracks in Trysil.

I knew this was not our discipline, and the result agreed with me - unfortunately.

It was an okay race, but far from our best. Hope to do better in next weekends Norwegian Championship at Savalen, 15km combined and 10km pulka.

Silver in the Norwegian Championship!!!

Little did I know, standing at the starting line, that we would take a medal in this Norwegian championship!

I raced with Skurk and Ellinor at this 15km pulka with 1-4 dogs. The first 7km it felt almost like flying, they went so well and worked hard. Had a little trouble getting them to continue the high speed after catching up Tonje and her team, and lost a lot of time the last km. But I am extremely surprised and satisfied with finishing second and taking the silver medal!!!!

Whatever happens the rest of the season will be a bonus. For me these first races have allready exceeded my expectations and given me the motivation I needed to keep on for next season.

2.place at Bærumsløpet!

Yesterday, it was time for the seasons first 10km pulka at the familiar tracks at Veldre Sag, Brumunddal.

This is one of my absolute favorite tracks, and especially the 10km loop is lovely, but tough.

My body was a bit off this day, but Skurk did a good job in all the hills and kept on working. As last weekend we had to pass several other teams, but Skurk just goes on - doesn't care about anyone else (maybe except Felicia, Solveig's dog, he has a small crush on her but still moved on).

Very happy with a 2.place here, and the season so far is surprisingly good:)

Skiing with an IOC director

On Thuesday we arranged the 3rd YOG-jogg for the Youth Olympics, this time with an IOC director as one of the participants.

We are three students at Bachelor in Sport Managment in charge of the YOG-jogg events for promoting the Youth Olympics, and to give an activity offer to people in Lillehammer.

This time we were lucky enough to get IOC-director Antoine Goetschy and the chief of the 2016 Youth Olympics, Tomas Holmestad, to come ski with us!

From left; Eirik Andreas Øwre (student), Antoine Goetschy,            Antoine was very interested in my pulka and how we do it.

First win in long time!

First competition of the season and first win in many years - finally!

Saturday we started the season With 12km pulka at Nittedalsløpet. After placing around 5-8 last season I had hopes on making it to the podium if we had a good day. I had never believed we would win!!!

Everything went good in the race, and I think Skurk did well in all the snow. Getting a little more excited about the season now:)
